Dispersion models
The project provides for the design and adaptation of a dispersal model for marine pollution and another for river pollution.
The pollution-dispersal models enable an assessment to be made of the discharges’ impact on both sea and river bathing areas.
In the case of the river model for Berlin’s continental water, the dispersal will take account of a 1D dispersal coefficient, already calibrated with the Flusshygiene project’s measures. That way, hazardous substances can be traced throughout their river course, from the sewerage system’s discharge points during rainfall up to bathing areas.
The coastal dispersal model, for its part, will combine wind, tidal, wave and weather information on the sewerage system’s discharges during rainfall, to simulate the transport and dispersal pollution indicator parameters and their effects in bathing areas.
